South Jersey Concerts

From cool jazz and alternative rock,
to symphony orchestra and off-Broadway musicals, South
Jersey's concert schedule has something for everyone.
Thanks to its ingenious design, the
Tweeter
Center on the Camden Waterfront has two distinct
personalities. By summer, it is a 25,000 seat,
state-of-the-art concert amphitheater with jaw-dropping
views of the Philadelphia skyline and a line-up that
includes the latest and greatest entertainers on tour.
During the fall and winter months, it transforms into a
fully-enclosed 1,600–7,000 seat theater featuring concerts,
Broadway productions and family-friendly entertainment.
On a summer evening, there is nothing better than packing up
a lawn chair and heading to
Wiggins Park on the Camden Waterfront. The season is
packed with dozens of concerts and festivals, set against
the dazzling backdrop of the Philadelphia skyline. One of
the most anticipated events of the season is the summertime
Sunset Jazz Series, which boasts an impressive lineup of
favorites from the jazz world.
Large enough to attract big names, small enough to be
intimate, the 2,500 seat
Commerce Bank Arts
Center in Sewell offers a comfortable concert
experience, solid acoustics and unobstructed site lines no
matter where you sit. The line-up is eclectic with
performances ranging from big bands to country to pop to
good old rock ‘n roll.
The Sovereign
Bank Arena in Trenton has been a
hit among concert-goers as well as concert insiders ever
since it opened. Both Amusement Business and Billboard
magazines rank the venue among the nation's top ten arenas
in its size category. The 10,000 seat facility is always
busy with more than 175 events each year, and is a popular
stop on the concert circuit.
Throughout the year, the stage at
Appel Farm Arts and Music
Center in Elmer is a continuous parade of the best names
in folk, country and alternative music. And it's not just
for grown-ups. Kids get an early introduction into the world
of music through the family-friendly kids' music concerts.
But one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the season
is the annual
Arts &
Music Festival. What began as
a small esoteric event now has a huge following, attracting
music lovers from throughout the East Coast.
For interesting and eclectic concert lineups, check out
South Jersey's college campuses. Dozens of the region's
colleges and universities feature first-rate concert
facilities and while mainstream artists are often on the
bill, they also highlight lesser known and experimental
artists.
Casual or classical, indoors or al fresco, soothing or
sizzling, South Jersey's concert venues are busy year-round
with an unusually diverse range of performances. Search the
arts & entertainment links in the Links Directory or check the
events calendar for venues and listings. Or visit the South Jersey
Cultural Alliance website at
