The New Jersey Audubon Society
The New Jersey Audubon Society is a great place to start your quest to put more wildlife into your life. With a network of locations across New Jersey, including the Rancocas Nature Center in Mount Holly, you’re never far from excellent birdwatching. The Rancocas Nature Center of the New Jersey Audubon Society offers these activities and more:
- Birdwatching groups for various ages
- Dendrology lessons (study of trees and woodsy plants)
- Day hikes, full-moon hikes, and winter walks
- Teddy Bear Mornings, which include children’s nature stories and refreshments
- Programs for family members of all ages
Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford
New Jersey wildlife runs rampant at Cedar Run. Dedicated to the preservation of the New Jersey Pinelands, this New Jersey wildlife refuge includes 184 wooded acres around Cedar Run Lake. The refuge also has a New Jersey wildlife rehabilitation hospital and an outdoor live-animal compound. There is a nature center with classrooms, hands-on exhibits, and a library. Some of the wildlife programs include group tours, Refuge on Wheels, weekend family workshops, field trips and adult courses. Boasting over 5,300 members and a publication that reaches 7,500 New Jersey wildlife enthusiasts, this South Jersey treasure is the perfect place to see and learn about nature.
New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail
New Jersey wildlife is also plentiful in this five-region space that encompasses land from the Jersey Shore to the Raritan and Delaware Bays. A 300-mile New Jersey wildlife nature drive awaits you with topics of interest along the way, including maritime history, New Jersey wildlife migration, coastal habitats and more.
Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge
A 2,000+ acre area of protected meadowland in Pennsville, perfect for birding or other wildlife viewing.
Mannington Meadows
An area along Route 45, located between Salem and Woodstown, that is also a prime viewing area for local and migratory birds and wildlife.
